Stocking Builder Punch Retiring!

I cannot believe it but Stampin' Up! has just announced that the Stocking Builder punch will not be carried over in any of the next catalogs.

If you haven't gotten it yet and thought you could get it later, you may want to order it now before it's gone! They say that once the current supply is depleted it will not be available for purchase. Go here to order it online.

It makes me wonder if the Stitched Stockings stamp set will be discontinued too.

In all my years as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I've never seen a punch not carry over into the next catalog.

Tribute to Nanny

I haven't posted in awhile. (I do have someone posting for me on Thursdays - but I myself have not posted recently)

This has been a hard week. We buried my grandmother today. I was fortunate enough to still have my grandmother alive -- I'm 52 years old. That is rare. There were five generations in our family up until Nanny passed.

There was Julia (my grandmother), Josephine (my mom), Myself, Kristin (my daughter) and then Freddy (my grandson), who was the first to make it a five generation family. Five more great-great grandchildren were born after Freddy, including two more of my grandchildren - Gabriel and Amelia, who are pictured with us in our most recent 5 generation photo.

I was honored to be asked to speak at my grandmother's funeral today. I shared a poem that I had written. I was asked by a couple of the people who attended the service to share it, so I thought I might share it here. While it is not stamping related -- I hope you'll indulge me.

Nanny Julia - I miss you! This is for you:

The Seasons of Motherhood

Genealogy is the study of your family tree
Because trees have roots, and so do we

Woman - God's vehicle of creativity

She is the start of your family tree

The roots in my tree have grown strong

Five generations to it belong

Motherhood, like trees, for whatever reason

With each generation begin a new season

Julia is the name of the first tree in my life

Michael, my grandfather, she was his wife
Together they worked and readied the soil
And Josephine was the product of their toil

The springtime of motherhood for Julia came out
As the buds of life from her body did sprout
As she watched the fruits of her labors grow
She added four more branches in addition to Jo

And Julia's tree gained height and girth

Until Jo married, and herself gave birth

When Lisa was born, then Jo began spring

And summer for Julia was now in full swing

Now Jo, as a mother and a wife
Added two more branches to her tree’s life
Julia's summer saw the blessing
Of her branches grown and reproducing

Now Jo's tree gained in height and girth
Lisa married, and then gave birth
Kristin was born; it was now Lisa's spring
And summer for Jo was now in full swing

Julia had produced five beautiful trees
She now had grandchildren from all of these
Great grandchildren were now starting to sprout
As the autumn of her life began with a shout

Her leaves turned colors of vibrant red
And she knew the season that lie ahead
As Kristin gave birth to little Fred
Julia looked on winter without any dread

Because life doesn't end, it just changes seasons
For God has His purposes and His reasons
Each season of motherhood has its own beauty
To see the uniqueness of each is our duty

Snow, freshly fallen, untouched, and pure white
Hugging barren branches, is a beautiful sight
Covering the earth with a blanket of snow
As night time falls on the trees below

It reminds me of arms snuggled so tight
Holding me close before bedtime each night
The winter season has a certain grace
For Wisdom is engraved on each line of her face

She looks back on all she has sown
Amazed how her branches and seedlings have grown
She knows her labors have produced her best
As she now enjoys her long winter’s rest

Her job is complete, the prize she has won
For she's earned the love of everyone
When I study the roots of my family tree
I realize just how blessed is me

While I know there is sadness and maybe a tear
Remember, that in your heart, she is always near
Just look around and you will see
All the branches she left in her legacy

Awesome Organizing Tip!

One of the things I love about Stampin' Up!, besides the great products, are the generous demonstrators who freely share their talents. I have been inspired by some of their extraordinary projects, cards, scrapbook pages, videos, helpful hints and busines ideas.

One of my weak areas (and I have MANY weak areas -- LOL) is staying organized. My stamp room usually looks like a tornado ran through it.

While browsing some websites of my fellow demonstrators looking for some inspiration for my last stamp camp, I came across an awesome organizing tip that I'd like to share with you.

This tip is from Marie Shaughnessy. Marie is a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In her bio Marie says: "After all, creating cards, scrapbook pages, and gift items is about more than just stamps, paper and ink—it’s about sharing a part of yourself with the people you love." And that she does!

Marie has a new feature on her blog, Stamping Inspiration, called Storage Saturday. She recently shared a tip of how to store your Linen Thread, Hemp and Baker's Twine, so that it doesn't end up in a tangled mess. I absolutely LOVED the idea and asked her if I could share it with you.

Using either empty brad containers of you can purchase Stampin' Up!'s Stack and Store containers (Page 226 - Item# 103649 - You get 6 containers for $3.95) she made these awesome dispensers.

Supplies

Sweet Stitches Designer Fabric, cut into 6" square

Sweet Stitches Big Designer Buttons

Hot glue gun

Straight pins

Small wide-mouth canning jar and ring

Cardboard

Polyester fiberfill stuffing

Instructions

Trace the lid of the jar on the cardboard; cut out.

Place the stuffing on the cardboard and cover with the fabric.

Hot glue the edges to the underside of the cardboard.

Place the pincushion inside the canning ring.

Fill jar with buttons and place the lid on the jar.

What a SIMPLE and pretty project!

It's Blog Candy Time!

As promised the other day, I would like to offer some Blog Candy to celebrate Katie Burke coming on board to help with my blog and a sort of "re-launch" as it were, since I've been gone for awhile.

If you take a peek under the categories drop down (on the right side about half way down) - scroll towards the bottom and you will see how I listed the stamp set names for each project on my blog.
